Casual Dining
New Tayyab - Okay, we’re talking exceptional cheap eats here—and loads of fun as well. The mixed tandoori platter at this Pakistani restaurant in East London belongs in a class with Katz’s pastrami and the Thai food at Sripraphai. Platter after sizzling platter fly out of the kitchen, loaded with lamb chops, seekh kebab, chunks of white meat chicken and chunks of fish. And the fiery curries, such as the dry meat and the bitter gourd with lentils, are delicious. A few weeks ago a group of 12 of us had dinner here, and they served us a mountain of delicious food that cost a grand total of £15 a person. The restaurant has recently undergone a renovation, and I understand they have nearly doubled in size. I wish I could get tandoori like this in NYC but there isn't anything even close. A-
